Happy Birthday Jacob!!!

Friday, January 29th, 2010

Happy Birthday to my amazing 6 year old, Jacob! Jacob is in kindergarten and is really loving it and doing well. He enjoys make believe play and Batman. They are just getting started on learning to read and he is so excited to learn and reading many sight words they’ve learned. He is taking cupcakes in to share with the class and will be having a party in about a week (it a joint party with Ian’s birthday) at the Building for Kids. It will be a mad scientist party. He can’t wait. We are very proud of him and can’t believe he is 6 years old already!

Pinewood Derby

Sunday, January 17th, 2010

Friday night, Ian had his Pinewood derby race for Cub Scouts. Mike and Ian worked on his vehicle and made a tank. Ian helped with every part and even found a lego man to add to the top. His tank did well at the race, it started nice and fast. It slowed a bit at the end, but made it past the finish line and usually around 3rd place each time. In the end, he received a ribbon for the most war-like vehicle and a trophy for 3rd place Best in Show.

There was a good turnout and the track was right in the middle for easy viewing of all the races:

Here are some of the vehicles, Ian’s tank is right in the front of the picture:

Update on Amy’s dad

Wednesday, January 13th, 2010

2nd update 1/15/10: surgery went well and he is alert and awake.

Update 1/15/10: Harry will be having surgery to clean out some infection today. The docs feel this is what was causing all the problems and hope clearing this out will begin some healing and improvement. Just since starting antibiotics yesterday, there is already noticeable difference in his responsiveness. Still a long road, but seems things may start to move forward again. He will also be getting a trach put in so it is easier for the docs to keep his lungs clear and allow him to talk. We appreciate all the well wishes and continue to ask for good, healing thoughts for Harry.

Update 1/14/10: Doctors are talking about possibly more surgery for an infection. We continue to wait and watch.

Harry has to be intubated again. His body is not healing well and having a hard time functioning properly. After having made some small steps forward, this is quite a leap backwards. Positive thoughts are much appreciated.
